About Jastan Logistics

Two decades of moving goods that cannot afford to be late

Jastan Logistics started in 2001 with two vehicles and a straightforward idea: if you own the trucks, you can be held to your promises. More than twenty years on, that decision still shapes everything — we run a fleet of 120+ vehicles and a team of 300+ people rather than brokering your cargo to whoever is available.

From our head office in Nakuru we move freight nationwide in Kenya and across the Northern and Central Corridors into Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Botswana — for dairy processors, food manufacturers, pharmaceutical distributors, ceramics plants and online retailers who need cargo to arrive when they said it would.

  • Own fleet, own drivers, single point of accountability
  • Customs and cross-border documentation in-house
  • 100% GPS tracking across every vehicle
  • Goods-in-transit cover through licensed underwriters

What we do

Comprehensive logistics solutions for Eastern Africa

Six services that connect end to end, so a single consignment can be cleared, stored, distributed and delivered without changing hands between providers.

Freight Forwarding

Road, sea and air freight moved under one bill of lading, with customs documentation, tracking and cargo insurance handled by our own team.

Cross-Border Logistics

Transit cargo moved between Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Botswana with the clearing paperwork, bonds and border coordination already in hand.

Warehousing & Distribution

Secured storage, inventory control and scheduled distribution runs that turn a warehouse from a cost centre into a working part of your supply chain.

Last-Mile Delivery

Pickups, vans and insulated motorbikes covering the final leg into towns, estates and trading centres — with proof of delivery captured on every drop.

Cold Chain Logistics

Refrigerated transport from −20°C to +5°C for dairy, meat, fresh produce and medical supplies, with temperature logged for the whole journey.

E-commerce Fulfilment

Storage, order processing, dispatch and returns for online retailers who would rather grow their catalogue than build a distribution network.

Why businesses choose Jastan

The difference between a broker and a carrier

Most logistics quotes in this region are placed with a subcontractor you will never meet. Ours are not.

We own the trucks we send you

Unlike brokers who subcontract every load, Jastan owns and operates its fleet. That means one accountable party for service quality, timing and condition of your cargo.

Costs built on our own utilisation

Owning the assets and running dense regional routes lets us price against real utilisation rather than a marked-up third-party rate.

Regional knowledge that is not theoretical

We move cargo through Malaba, Busia, Namanga, Isebania and Gatuna every week. Border practice, escort rules and documentation quirks are working knowledge here.

One provider across the whole chain

Freight forwarding, warehousing, distribution, cold chain and last-mile sit under one contract, one contact and one set of reports.

Reliability you can plan production around

Preventive maintenance, driver training and route planning exist for one reason: so your depot slot, your production line and your customer promise all hold.

Safety and compliance are not negotiable

Speed governance, load securing, documented compliance and honest communication when something slips — including when the news is not good.

Regional coverage

Six countries, one operator

We do not hand your cargo to a partner at the border and hope for the best. Jastan units and Jastan documentation run the whole corridor.

How it works

How our logistics process works

From first message to proof of delivery, here is what actually happens when you move cargo with us.

Tell us what needs to move

Send the origin, destination, cargo type, weight and timing. A WhatsApp message with those five details is usually enough to start.

We price and plan the route

We confirm the right vehicle class, the corridor, border requirements and the realistic transit time — then quote a rate against it.

Documentation and compliance

Customs entries, transit bonds, certificates of origin and insurance certificates are prepared before the truck loads, not after.

Collection and transit

Our own driver and our own vehicle collect the cargo. GPS tracking runs for the whole journey and your team gets status updates at each milestone.

Delivery and proof

Cargo is delivered, checked and signed for. Proof of delivery, temperature logs and any exception notes are returned to you.

Review and improve

For contract clients we review on-time performance, damages and cost per drop on an agreed cycle, and adjust the plan.

Fleet & technology

A fleet built for the roads it actually runs on

Euro 2–5 prime movers at 420–480HP for the corridors, 28-tonne rigids for depot runs, refrigerated bodies from −20°C to +5°C for dairy and pharma, and insulated motorbike boxes for the final kilometre. Eight vehicle classes, one operator.

Preventive maintenance

Scheduled servicing and rapid in-house repairs, so a breakdown becomes a delay of hours rather than days.

100% GPS tracking

Every unit in the fleet is tracked, giving your team real-time position, route history and arrival estimates.

Full cargo insurance

Goods in transit are covered through reputable underwriters, with certificates issued on request.

Industries served

Sectors we move cargo for every week

Different industries fail in different ways. Knowing which failure matters to you is most of the job.

Food & Beverage Manufacturing

Inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods for manufacturers who cannot afford a line stoppage or a missed depot slot.

Dairy & Agri-Processing

Refrigerated collection and distribution for dairy processors, with temperature integrity maintained end to end.

Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare

Controlled-temperature movement of medical supplies with documented chain of custody and handover records.

Building Materials & Ceramics

Flatbed and rigid haulage for heavy, high-volume loads moving from plant to distributor and site.

FMCG & Distribution

Scheduled route distribution into wholesale, retail and duka networks across Kenya and the region.

Retail & E-commerce

Fulfilment and last-mile delivery for online retailers, including cash-on-delivery reconciliation.

Mining, Energy & Projects

Project cargo and long-haul movements into Zambia and Botswana on planned, escorted schedules.

NGOs & Development Programmes

Relief and programme cargo delivered to hard-to-reach locations with reporting suited to donor audits.

Safety & compliance

Three things we will not trade away

Rates can be negotiated. These cannot.

Frequently asked questions

Questions we are asked before the first load

Which countries does Jastan Logistics cover?

We move cargo nationwide in Kenya and across Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Botswana. Our head office is in Nakuru, with regional offices supporting Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. South Sudan, Ethiopia and wider Southern Africa are on our expansion plan.

Do you own your trucks or subcontract them?

We own and operate our fleet of more than 120 vehicles, from 480HP prime movers to last-mile motorbikes. Owning the assets is why we can commit to timing and condition rather than passing the risk along to a subcontractor.

How quickly can I get a quote?

Send us the origin, destination, cargo type, approximate weight and required date on WhatsApp and we will normally come back the same working day. Complex cross-border or project cargo may take a little longer while we confirm border requirements.

Can you handle customs clearance and cross-border documentation?

Yes. Import, export and transit entries, regional customs bonds, certificates of origin and border coordination are handled by our own team, and we hold working relationships at Malaba, Busia, Namanga, Isebania and Gatuna.

Is my cargo insured while in transit?

Goods in transit are covered through reputable underwriters and certificates can be issued on request. High-value or specialised consignments can be covered under a declared-value arrangement.

Do you offer temperature-controlled transport?

Yes. Our refrigerated trucks run from −20°C to +5°C and are used for dairy, meat, fresh produce and medical supplies, with temperature logged through the journey and handover records at delivery.

Can I track my shipment?

Every vehicle in the fleet carries GPS tracking, so we can confirm position, route history and a realistic arrival estimate at any point. Contract clients receive scheduled status reporting.

What size of business do you work with?

Both. We run contracted distribution for manufacturers and processors, and we also take single-load and one-off cross-border movements for smaller traders.
